Judiciary Committee Hearing Held at Rhode Island State House for Bill That Will Allow Drivers Licenses For Undocumented Individuals

The Rhode Island Judiciary Committee held a hearing last Thursday where organizations and the community came to advocate for driver’s licenses for undocumented people. The legislation, H7708 would allow driving privilege cards as well as driving privilege permits for applicants who are not able to legally reside in the United States. Governor Mckee wrote a letter in full support of the bill, stating that “limiting one’s access to education, employment, and health care because of lack of access is not productive".
